Adult Learners’ Week 2011

Adult Learners' Week

Adult Learners week is a great way to get people engaging in a wider range of learning opportunities. Last year  around 100, 000 people got involved. This year Adult Learners Week  is celebrating it’s 20th year so why not get involved? It’s from 14th – 20 th May and you’ll find lots of ideas on their website.

I’ve worked with many employers in the North East over the years who have used Adult Learners’ Week to good effect. It’s a great time to introduce e-learning if you haven’t done so already. If your staff already have access to e-learning courses then you could focus on a particular topic that week, hold taster sessions, or recruit some learning champions to do the rounds and give people a quick intro to what’s available for them to learn online.

Adult Learners’ Week can help raise the profile of learning in your organisation, widen participation and increase motivation with some fun events too. I’m sure there are plenty of employees who could do with having a morale boost at the moment so why not take a look at the Adult Learners Week website and start planning what you’re going to do.

There are lots of free resources available to help you promote your learning events such as customisable posters, Adult Learner’s week logos, event planning guide and a range of other resources.

Are you planning an event? We’d love to hear about it…

Adult Learners’ Week always provides an excellent opportunity to think about learning a new language.

The Esperanto Association has launched a course for beginners which I think provides an excellent springboard to the learning of many languages.

I hope your readers may be interested :)

    Hi Brian

Thanks for your comment. I agree, lots of client organisations that I’ve worked with over the years have used language learning as an activity during Adult Learners Week.
